Gruppo Alla Salute Meetings
“Gruppi alla Salute”, or GaS Meetings are an integral part of the MaS Method.
They are the space in which participants learn and are changed through dynamic group interaction (acquiring new relational instruments and a more global point of view on life). It is the training ground in which inner fragmentation and disagio or malaise are dealt with collectively in order to restore the individual to wholeness.
GaS Meetings are different from group psychotherapy in that narration and interpretation are not the be all and end all of interaction, but rather are seen as important factors that cannot be separated from physical and emotional interaction.
During the dynamic interactions activated during group sessions (which are structured into 4 phases), all aspects of life and all forms of interaction occur, including via the body.
GaS Meetings cannot be qualified exclusively as therapy groups or as training groups, since they contain and combine characteristics of both.
A Group participant is considered neither patient, nor client, but rather a “person undergoing treatment”.
The word “Person” derives from the Greek “personam”, and refers to the
“masks” that we use in our everyday lives, which we "decorate" with depression, addictions, bulimia, anorexia, dismaturity, psychoses, stunted development and the misleading image of stability. Those taking part in the process of regeneration are thus committed to removing the mask of their own malaise.
Group leaders are also "under treatment", in that they, like other group participants have not finished their personal journey towards wholeness. Despite having reached certain goals along the way, group leaders are themselves receive benefits for their own lives and are stimulated by the contributions made by others.
Any relationship lacking in mutual give-and-take sooner or later weakens the giver and creates suffering for the receiver.
